As a prime contractor and systems integrator, we manage the most complex, high-level systems tasks and provide total solutions. In short, we are a one-stop shop capability and service provision covering the air, land, sea and space environments.
Air
In aviation, we’re behind a number of aircraft including the Tornado,
Harrier and Hawk. We’re also leading partners in joint programmes for military and civil aircraft such as Eurofighter and Joint Strike Fighter.
Land
These days, our expertise goes way beyond ammunition and weapons systems. In the new digitised battlespace, our systems include radar, networks, artillery, guided weapons and electro-optics.
Sea
For the world's navies, we offer a leading ship design capability, build frigates, submarines and aircraft carriers, as well as radar, missiles, systems and torpedoes. We are the prime contractor for the U.K. Royal Navy's new Type 45 destroyers and the Astute class nuclear-powered attack submarine.
Space
We have a wide range of expertise and technology in high-quality image exploitation and archiving systems for stereo photogrammetry, photointerpretation, and mapping, charting and geodesy (MC&G) applications. We also develop, integrate and produce test equipment for advanced electronic systems including space launch, satellites, and provide avionics systems for the Atlas and Titan launch vehicles.
Our R&D projects cover the spectrum of technologies, materials and synthetic environments, such as virtual reality and 3D modelling, that constantly extend the frontiers of performance. Software development is also a core activity that involves more than 10,000 systems software engineers.
