Following up your interest

We hope that you are attracted to opportunities at BAE Systems and that you decide to apply for one of our programmes

Our minimum entry requirements for the Graduate Development Framework are a 2:2 honours degree in an engineering subject and 220 UCAS points or equivalent excluding general studies, or a 2:1 honours degree in a non-engineering subject and 280 UCAS points or equivalent excluding general studies).

Business Groups within BAE Systems are engaged in government work with classified aspects; you must therefore have a work permit to work in the UK and be able to successfully attain security clearance to join the Graduate Development Framework.

Our Finance Leader Development Programme and our Sigma Leadership Programme have different entry requirements.

We want your experience of dealing with BAE Systems to be as fair, open and straightforward as we can make it, so please take a look at our application procedure.

Rewards

At BAE Systems, the rewards go beyond the financial. It could the opportunity to work for an internationally respected company with a great history and an exciting future, or being exposed to highly innovative technology, or being part of a multi-national team.

On a personal level, this generates its own benefits by creating an environment that enables people to build their own international networks of respected colleagues and valued friends. In a culture such as this, you will not be surprised to find a thriving social life.

Salaries
Naturally, you can also expect an attractive starting salary, potentially boosted through performance-based salary reviews that take place every six months during the GDF.

Benefits
The wider benefits include pension and share option schemes and the ability to participate in health cover, car lease and discount schemes. Locally, there may be additional options such as gym membership.

The application process

BAE Systems values diversity. We are committed to equal opportunities and welcome applications from all parts of the community.

Application
When you have decided which Business Group and role is right for you, complete our online application and send it through to us. We will acknowledge receipt and begin assessing your application.

Online tests
If your application is successful, we will send you an email inviting you to take an online numerical and verbal test.

Line Manager Sift
Those who pass the online tests will receive an email advising that recruiting line managers will now screen your application. Those who are successful at this stage will be invited to attend Assessment Centre.

Assessment Centre
You will be sent an email telling you whether you have passed the test. If successful, we will phone to invite you to the next assessment stage. This is typically a formal Assessment Centre (though may be preceded by a screening telephone interview for Sigma), which gives us the opportunity to see how you perform in work-related situations, and you a chance to find out more about us and what we offer. Full information about the assessment centre will be sent to you two weeks before it takes place to give you plenty of time to prepare.

Offer
We will phone you to tell you the outcome of your assessment centre. If successful, we will make you an offer conditional on three factors:

  • Your degree results (if not already known)
  • Medical clearance
  • Security clearance.

Please be aware that responsibility for processing security checks lies with the Defence Vetting Agency (DVA) rather than BAE Systems, and the length of time clearance takes is not within our control. If you are a foreign or dual national, or have been travelling abroad for extended periods, the security clearance process may take several weeks. We would still actively encourage you to apply – you’re advised, however, to do so early to avoid any unnecessary delays to your starting with us.

If you have any other questions about the offer, you can contact our Graduate Recruitment team at any time on 01772 677277.

Keep in touch
We’ll put you in touch with a buddy – a recent graduate who can answer any questions you have and help you with your initial transition into the company. Where possible, we will also give you the chance to meet the team you’re planning to join.

Join us
Once clearance is received, the offer will be confirmed and we will agree on a start date.
